RootWork is more than a coaching model, it's a living process. It’s built to help you unearth your deepest blocks, shed outdated narratives, and harness your agency with clarity and ownership. The method flows through a 6-session coaching arc following four phases: Uproot, Shed, Harness, and Sustain. Reinforced by a proprietary diagnostic, exercises and tools, it's designed to sustain growth and bring others with you. Just be prepared to get your hands dirty.
"The Suface is Safe. Dig Deeper - The RootWork Leadership Ethos" is the written companion to the work. It's a hard-earned philosophy drawn from lived experience. Eight timeless principles explored by the author in layers of emotion, science and the real world. It resists trend, refuses performance, and calls you to something deeper. It invites the reader into a conversation with the author, themselves, and the world, delving into how to live -and lead- more rooted, more awake, and more aligned.
The method and the leadership ethos come from the same place. One lives through practice while the other breathes through belief. Together, they invite you into the real work beneath the surface. Once unearthed, what you find can't be unseen. The tools you acquired can't be taken from you. You may backslide or falter, but failure is learning. The work gives you these tools to change yourself because no one can do it for you!
RootWork is a modern methodology. But the name itself carries a deeper lineage. In African American folk healing traditions, Rootwork—also known as hoodoo or conjure—has long represented a sacred, ancestral spiritual practice. It is not metaphor. The methodology does not derive from those practices. It's not a rebranding or adapted from hoodoo. That resonance—the notion that real transformation must come from what’s buried, not just what’s seen—runs deep through the work, and it’s why the name was chosen: to honor, with deep respect, but never to co-opt.
